Fr. Calvin “Cal” H. Poulin, SJ, chaplain of the Immaculate Conception Chapel of Xavier University, died early in the evening of 19 February in Maria Reyna – Xavier University Hospital, Cagayan de Oro City.

Born on 18 April 1931, he entered the Society on 30 July 1949 and was ordained a priest on 16 June 1962. Requiescat in pace.

He is a well-known priest and respected teacher to some Jesuits and bishops in the country like the newly installed Ateneo de Manila University President Jose Ramon T. Villarin and Archbishop of Cagayan de Oro Most Reverend Antonio Ledesma SJ.

The wake is in the Xavier University Chapel. Daily wake Masses at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass is scheduled today, Thursday, 23 February at 8:30 a.m. Interment follows immediately after the Funeral Mass at the Jesuit Cemetery in Manresa.

ABS-CBN and Circle Production’s 1st Kapamilya Run in Cagayan de Oro is set this Saturday, February 26, 2012. The fund raising event is intended for Sagip Kapamilya Sendong Rehabilitation projects.

Cagayan de Oro is still among the priority areas being eyed by developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. as part of their positioning to become a significant community developer in Visayas and Mindanao.

I first posted about the firm’s plans last February 17, 2011. However, before venturing into other areas, the firm will have to complete its projects in Cebu first. Perhaps they maybe already scouting or negotiating for some areas in Cagayan de Oro now.

Reports state that unit sales of Centrio Tower, Ayala’s first high-rise condominium project in Cagayan de Oro City, is doing well with the Macajalar Bayview units almost sold out.

As shown above, the blue-colored units are already reserved/sold. In Ayala Land’s recent Performance Analysts’ Briefing held February 15, 2012, the P1.3 billion Centrio Tower reportedly had a 43% take-up since its official launch in December 2011. This means 226 out of 522 units have been either sold or reserved already. However, latest info from realtor friends state that units sold have already increased to 249 as of last week.

Even with the Sendong calamity hampering unit sales in the last two weeks of 2011, it was considered as a successful launch of the Avida brand for the year as shown above. Construction of the high-rise condo is set late this year.

The cities of Cagayan de Oro and Davao have so far not been affected by the power outages from the power curtailment imposed by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) due to alleged generation deficiency.

A multi-level pay-parking building is being proposed in downtown Cagayan de Oro City.

A similar proposal was made during former Mayor Tinnex Jaraula’s time to convert the existing tennis court fronting City Hall into a pay parking building. This time, the site is at the old Post Office along Toribio Chaves Street which I believe is smaller in area.

CITY Hall will study the possibility of putting up a bowling center at Westbound terminal in Bulua following a proposal endorsed by the Balanghai Amusement Corporation.

Glass panels are now being installed on the facade of Tower A of Primavera Residences located at Pueblo de Oro.

The building’s shape reflects the condominium’s unique design as shown. Tower B, which will rise next to it will complete the twin tower project.

Meanwhile, work on the interiors are also in progress.

When completed, this will be the city’s first true eco-friendly building.
