Were you issued a Traffic Citation Ticket last year or earlier and still haven’t paid the fine yet? Good news as you won’t have to pay anything at all after the 20th City Council of Cagayan de Oro recently passed City Ordinance No. 14385-2022 condoning all traffic violations for the year 2021 and earlier. Based on the said city ordinance, to avail of the condonation, you’ll just have to secure a Certificate of Availment from the City Mayor’s Office.
Further, if you have a traffic violation this year (2022), they’ll have to pay the full amount to avail the condonation. Said certificate will also be required by the City Treasurer’s Office prior to your payment for the traffic violation this year.
Meanwhile, drivers need to secure the Certificate of Availment within three months after the approval of the ordinance. Also, payment for the 2022 traffic violations shall be made within 5 months after the approval of the ordinance. Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) head Engr. Nonito Oclarit advised drivers to just bring their valid ID and driver’s license to the RTA Office.
The measure was pushed by City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy to help drivers recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.
