Construction of the 6-lane Eastern Interior Bypass Road from Barangay Gusa to Barangay Puerto in Cagayan de Oro City is set to resume soon following yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony led by Rep. Rufus Rodriguez at Purok 3A in Gusa. The current allocation is worth P88 million for the Gusa section. A total of P900 million has already been spent for the project which has a total cost of P2 billion.
This road starts at JR Borja Extension and goes parallel with the National Highway traversing interior portions of Barangays Gusa, Cugman, Tablon (back of Nestle) and Agusan and connects to Sayre Highway at Barangay Puerto. This road opening aims to decongest the Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road (BCIR) or the National Highway. Four bridges are also set to be constructed along the route namely: Bigaan Bridge, Cugman Bridge, Umalag Bridge and Agusan Bridge.
This is the unfinished section in Gusa that was plagued with right-of-way issues.
