Leading transport network vehicle services (TNVS) company Grab is planning to expand its GrabCar services to Cagayan de Oro City. This after the company’s representatives recently met with City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy regarding their planned operations in the city. GrabCar is an online car booking service that uses private vehicles to pick you up and ferry you to your desired destination. Rates are charged per kilometer after the base fare.
The City Council Committee on Public Utilities is currently studying the proposal. GrabCar’s existing operations cover National Capital Region, Cebu, Bacolod City and Pampanga.
Accordingly, GrabCar will be a good boost in the local tourism industry particularly in the Meetings, Incentives, Convention and Exhibitions (MICE) industry considering Cagayan de Oro is a convention city. Further, its presence will bring opportunities to interested private vehicle owners and drivers.
