You may have already noticed the lack of supply of your favorite soft drink in local stores and even in major groceries and supermarkets in Cagayan de Oro. Accordingly, this has been happening in many parts of the country and the most common reason for this is the shortage of premium sugar used for manufacturing because of the effects of Typhoon Odette on sugar-producing provinces in the Visayas.

Current supplies are mostly canned soft drinks and zero or no sguar soda.


Replenishment of supplies are also easily sold out.


Meanwhile, the planned importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar to address the shortage was aborted and instead only half or about 150,000 metric tons will be allowed in October this year. See below.

But on the brighter side….there’s no shortage of beer!
