Filipino-American Kyle Gamber, a shifty 6-foot-3 point guard whose father is from Cagayan de Oro and his mother born in Cebu and raised in Cagayan de Oro has committed to play for Ateneo de Manila University in UAAP Season 86 next year. Further, the blue-chip recruit is also being considered for Gilas Under-18 squad.
Late last year, the 17-year old Gamber drew high interest from various universities in the country but eventually committed to play for Ateneo where he is eligible to play next year.
Gamber is in his senior year at Polytech High School in Woodside, Delaware and has also expressed his desire in playing for the national youth team. However, his eligibility under FIBA is still up for decision. He has applied for Philippine passport before he turned 16 but his application has not been acted on.
In 2 games this year, Gamber is averaging 30 points, 1.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game as shown below.
