Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy and Misamis Oriental Gov. Pedro M. Unabia have agree to a proposal by National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Regional Director Ted Buenavista, Jr. to use the underground cable ducts of the defunct Misamis Oriental Telephone (Misortel) to address the ‘spaghetti wire’ mess in the city. This came out during a breakfast meeting hosted by Mayor Uy at City Hall.

According to Director Buenavista, they had already checked the ducts that were first laid out in the 1990s and found out they’re still in good condition.

Further, it will also be a win-win solution for both City Hall and Capitol as it serves the objectives of the city to clean messy cable wire or ‘spaghetti wires’. Meanwhile, the Provincial Government will gain revenues from lease of these underground ducts from telecommunications firms whose cables are to be removed from utility posts.
