In case you didn’t know it yet, APL MCANDREI “ANDY” GEMAO, a high flying 15-year old from Iligan City whose dunking skills went viral in social media is part of the Gilas youth squad in the ongoing FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship in Doha, Qatar.
The 6-foot Gemao was officially named to the final roster in early June this year. At 15 years old, he is the youngest in the team.
He wears No. 7 on his jersey.
In his first game against Kuwait, the six-foot Gemao finished with 5 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
In yesterday’s losing effort against Japan, Gemao had 6 points, 6 rebounds and an assist.
Gemao’s athleticism and basketball skills proved to be his ticket to the national team.
Gemao played for Corpus Christi Grade School in Cagayan de Oro before he was recruited by National University.
Gemao’s dunking skills went trending in social media last year. A few months ago, he was interviewed by GMA Regional TV.
