Initial investigation by police revealed that the suspect first entered the office of Pacific Union Insurance Company located right beside the Land Transportation Office (LTO) located along the National Highway and sat at the vacant chair next to the company in-charge. He was asking help because allegedly someone is trying to kill him.
An insurance agent of the said company saw that the suspect had a gun so she tried to close the door to her office but the suspect instead approached her, pointed a gun at her and took her as a hostage.
The OIC of the insurance firm then took this chance to ask for help at LTO. From the office, the suspect dragged his hostage to the nearby LTO Accredited Medical Clinic where employees hid under the table and inside the CR. Suspect then dragged his hostage across the highway to another building where responding members of Ipil Police SWAT cornered the suspect who was now using his hostage as shield. It was at this point that police took the opportunity and shot the suspect in the head.
Police recovered from the suspect a Non-Professional Driver’s License under the name Eduardo Pijana Andres from Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay. Police are conducting further investigation if the suspect has something to do with a hold-up incident in Barangay Tiayon, also in Ipil. Also recovered by police is a .45 caliber pistol with 5 live bullets, a magazine with 3 live bullets and an empty bullet cartridge.
