It’s an awkward situation in local politics in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental. The two main political groups aiming for the city’s top posts – “Uban Ta Bai” led by former Phividec Administrator Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Vina and “Kauban Ta Uy” led by 1st Dist. Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy are seen in yesterday’s BBM-SARA UniTeam sortie in the city.
However, it is publicly known that both 2nd Dist. Rep Rufus Rodriguez allied with Pompee’s group and Mayor Oscar Moreno allied with Klarex’s group have already thrown their support for VP Leni Robredo. While Moreno is for the Leni-Kiko tandem, Rufus is for the Leni-Sara tandem. Moreno is gunning to reclaim the gubernatorial seat of the province against BBM-SARA supporter and Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia. Moreno’s daughter Imee who is running for a seat in the City Council was with Klarex’s group with BBM. Rufus meanwhile is running for reelection. Obviously, they cannot campaign together for their choices for the national leadership.
