Two uniformed personnel – an active member of the Philippine Army and an intelligence operative assigned at Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Station 10 in Cugman were arrested by police and are now facing charges of obstruction of justice, disobedience of person in authority and violation of Comelec gun ban.

In a press release, COCPO City Director PCol. Aaron M. Mandia reported to PNP-10 Regional Director PBGen Benjamin Acorda Jr. that at about 8:25PM, April 7, 2022, a certain Freddie Limpioso Besonia Jr filed a complaint at PS4 Carmen regarding a theft incident at Zone 4 Pasil Road, Kauswagan this city. PS4 personnel responded to the incident and subsequently recovered one (1) unit motorcycle bearing plate no. 1001- 516271 being used by a suspect who managed to elude arrest.


With the motorcycle now in police custody, two uniformed personnel identified as Sgt Erenio Siarza Besonia Jr, 34 yrs old, married, resident of Lala, Lanao del Norte, an active member of Philippine Army and Patrolman Benjie Dal Torib, 26 yrs old, single, resident of Sugbongcogon, Mis. Or., an active member of the PNP designated as Intel Operative of PS10 Cugman, this city, suddenly appeared at PS4 and in boisterous manner demanded for the release of the motorcycle even in the presence of the complainant who identified the name of the suspect as Dovenclay Jalover Gehoyon who was responsible of stealing their construction materials.

Accordingly, the two appeared arrogant, disobedient and showed disrespect and disregard to the Police Station Commander PMaj. Mantala, the Police Investigator and the duty Desk Officer. After both respondents continuously demanded the release of the motorcycle despite orders from the duty officer to stop, police arrested them and read their constitutional rights. Police then seized their respective firearms: 1 unit Zigana PX-9 cal 9mm pistol SN from Pat. Torib: and TO620- 19BM02181 1 inserted magazine w/ 15 live ammos and 1 unit NP 22 NORINCO cal 9mm pistol SN: A13005555 with 2 mags and 22pcs live ammos from Sgt Besonia Jr.


Suspects are now in Police Station 4 custodial facility, while cases including violation for COMELEC gun ban were being prepared for appropriate filing to the Office of the City Prosecutor.
