The seven individuals who were arrested by police after illegally occupying a portion of Cagayan de Oro Eco Park have issued a public apology. Four of them made the manifestation during a press briefing at City Hall today led by City Local Environment and Natural Resources Ofiice Head Engr. Armen Cuenca.

Accordingly, the individuals who came from different areas in Talakag and Libona in Bukidnon, Brgy Carmen and Indahag in Cagayan de Oro, stated they were made to believe that the government will be giving free lots in the area each of at least 50 sqm.

Engr. Cuenca said there were many attempts to enter the 19-hectare city-owned Eco Park in the past which prompted them to detail a personnel at the park for 24 hours. The seven have spent more than a week in jail following their arrest and were faceing charges of trespassing. Their public apology was one of the conditions set by City Mayor Oscar Moreno relative to their case.
