Former IBF light-flyweight world champion Milan Melindo from Cagayan de Oro City will make his return to the boxing ring tonight after more than two years. The 34-year old Melindo will take on journeyman Crison Omayao in the Main Event of the Golpe de Valientes boxing card at the Southern City Colleges Arena in Zamboanga City.

Melindo, who holds a professional record of 37 wins with 13 knockouts and five losses hasn’t fought since losing to Junto Nakatani in Japan in October 2019. Omayao from Valencia City, Bukidnon on the other hand has a record of 24 wins and 23 losses. He holds the distinction as Naoya “Monster” Inoue’s first opponent in boxing when the Japanese boxing sensation made his debut in 2012.
