Seven (7) individuals were arrested by Cagayan de Oro City Police after responding to a request for police assistance from an employee of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) of a trespassing incident at Cagayan de Oro Eco Park near Zayas Landfill in Carmen. They were caught conducting layouting and site clearing inside the premises of the property of the City Government (Eco Park).
In his report to PBGen Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., Regional Director PRO 10, City Director PCol Aaron Mandia stated that personnel from Police Station 4 led by Station Commander PMaj Mario N Mantala together with Deputy Stacom PLt Mych A Oclarit, Brgy Kag Sunny Rae Cahayag, Oro Tanod of Brgy Carmen and CLENRO personnel immediately responded to the said area to verify the report.
Upon their arrival at the site, the suspects were caught in the act making lay-outs using plastic straw and cutting the grass using a bolo inside the Eco Park, which resulted to their arrest.
Initial investigation by police revealed a certain tribal datu led them and fed them with wrong information in taking the land owned by the city government in return with an alleged Php 1,500 for the reservation and processing fee for the land.
Police identified the suspects as: Lynde Taal y Yanga 34 yrs old, single, Livema Taal y Yanga 70 yrs old, widowed, both residents of P-2 Pongol Libona, Bukidnon; Leonilyn Galasanay y Taal 40 yrs old, married, from San Isidro, Talakag, Bukidnon, Rey Egol y Salde 38 yrs old, married, from Moloy Poloy, Indahag, CDOC, Joseph Alolino y Fernandez 51 yrs old, married from Sumpong, Indahag, CDOC, Peter Cabugao y Piedad 45 yrs old, married from Zone 8 P-4 CCF Carmen, CDOC and Racwel Colating Mesa 41 yrs old, married from Cacahon, Talakag, Bukidnon.
They are now detained at COCPO Station 4 with pertinent documents already prepared for case filing in court.
