Elements of the PNP Regional Special Operations Unit 10 together with personnel from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) confiscated an estimated PhP3.5 million worth of illegally manufactured counterfeit medicines during a raid at a house in Purok 6, Brgy. Calabayan, Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental last March 5, 2022.

PRO-10 Regional Director PBGen Benjamin Casuga Acorda Jr identified the suspect as Leonardo O. Duma Jr, 56 years old, resident of the said location, and reportedly the distributor of the alleged counterfeit medicines. Government authorities were armed with three (3) search warrants issued by Judge Arthur Abundiente of Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region.

Confiscated from Duma’s house were large boxes containing 31,700 capsules of loperamide hydrochloride; 27,000 tablets of losartan potassium; 31,500 capsules of amoxicillin trihydrate; 13,100 capsules of mefenamic acid; 12,200 tablets of dicycloverine hydrochloride; and 13,400 tablets of carbocisteine. Accordingly, the suspect owns a mini-drugstore inside his house and has been selling to customers in other parts of Northern Mindanao.
