A construction worker who risked his life as a first responder in the July 2021 C-130 “Hercules” plane crash in Patikul, Sulu is now an army soldier of the 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division based in Jolo, Sulu. It was a dream come true for Erham Awaluddin, whose photo helping an injured crash victim PFC Ganney C. Ligayan went viral in social media.
Accordingly, Awaluddin and a companion rushed to the crash site when they saw the C-130 plane crash while working on a road concreting project in Barangay Bangkal, Patikul. Below is the viral photo of Awaluddin then assisting crash survivor Pfc Ganney Ligayan.

Actually, it was Awaluddin’s dream to become a soldier so when he applied for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Service Aptitude Test at the Mindanao State University – Sulu, just two days after the crash, officers of the 11th Infantry Division (11ID) quickly recognized him.
Awaluddin along with other C-130 first responders were given medals and certificates on July 15, 2021.

Last December 9, 2021, the 22-year-old Awaluddin along with 298 other individuals took their oath as new enlisted personnel with the rank of private.

He is shown below with Ligayan as they reunite at Camp General Teodulfo Bautista in Barangay Busbus, Jolo, the capital town of Sulu.
