Even in times of grief, a scammer used the Office of Cagayan de Oro City Vice Mayor Kikang Uy for a hoax food order supposedly for today’s funeral rites. Jessie Ubay-ubay of BentoGo said he was at City Hall early today to deliver the Php28,000 worth food packs but the caller couldn’t be reached anymore. Fortunately, Kikang’s office gave him P10,000 to defray the costs incurred. He also gave the food packs to trisikad drivers in Bonbon and Kauswagan instead.

Jessie said he didn’t think twice about the order because Vice Mayor Kikang Uy was his classmate before in Kong Hua School. Accordingly, a staff of the vice mayor informed him he was the second caterer to be scammed. Yesterday, they received another scam food delivery worth P6,000. Lesson learned he said particularly for food caterers… the need to properly confirm such large order.
