Do you know that the Rafflesia schadenbergiana, considered the largest flower in the Philippines can be found in Mt. Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKRNP)? Photo shows the Kitanglad Guard Volunteers (KGVs) who are all members of indigenous tribes of Bukidnon around a newly bloom rare flora species of Rafflesia.
In her Facebook post, Bukidnon 1st Dist. Rep. Maria Lourdes Acosta-Alba said the KGVs are among the strongest IP partners for the protection of MKRNP, also declared an ASEAN Heritage Park in 2009. Every day, they’re faced with an enormous task of protecting our natural heritage.
Rafflesia’s size might be intriguing but it stinks big time because it smells like rotten flesh.
