The proposed Coco Pallet Plant in Misamis Oriental has moved closer to reality with the recent continued discussion between the Provincial Agriculture Research Office (PAGRO) and CocoPallet International BV, the Netherlands-based company which is planing to put up an eco-friendly pallets from coconut waste manufacturing facility in the province.
It can be recalled that a few months ago, the European firm with its Founder Mr. Michiel Vos and its General Manager in Asia Pacific Mr. Kiel Flores visited the Misamis Oriental Provincial Agriculture Development Complex in Barangay Anei in Claveria town. See our post below.
Last October 19, 2021 the group led by CocoPallet International BV Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Kiel Flores and Chief Finance Officer Mr. Jochem In’t Velt returned to the province for another round of discussion on the proposal at the Negosyo Center at the Provincial Capitol with Provincial Agriculturist Jose Apollo Pacamalan, Committee Chairman on Agriculture Board Member Erick Khu, PAGRO consultants Norman Q. Arancon, Rachel Polistico and Willie Chua and representantives of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Among those discussed is the establishment of five hubs in the towns of Balingasag, Jasaan, Claveria, Villanueva and Tagoloan wherein each hub can process 300,000 cubic meters of coconut husks which will be used as raw materials for the coco pallets and transported to tthe facility inside the Misamis Oriental Provincial Agriculture and Development Complex (MOPADC) in Claveria.
Also discussed was the inclusion of local cooperatives on the establishment of the said hubs in coordination with the DTI under its Rapid Growth Program, First Community Cooperatibe (FICCO) for financing, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) for the planting materials, and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for logistics and organization.
