Consul General Yoshiaki Miwa, Consulate General of Japan in Davao has cited the masterplanned Science and Technology Park of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) as the convergence area for the Industry-Academe-Government (IAG) collaboration. This after ConGen Miwa sealed an agreement with various stakeholders in Northern Mindanao to conduct a series of webinars on IAG partnership during his visit in the region last October 15, 2021.

ConGen Miwa also recommended the conduct of monthly Seeds and Needs Matching Webinars to invite Japanese investors/locators to explore development opportunities in the region.

Among the three key areas of support as highlighted by ConGen Miwa are as follows:

  1. link industry and academe through industry development policy;
  2. create a culture of Industry-Academe-Government collaboration; and
  3. fund researches to address gaps on commercialization, internationalization, among others.
