Are you still ordering gadgets online? Beware of fake sellers or online scammers after police raided a warehouse of an online seller in Manila using the services of Lazada and discovered parcels for delivery containing rocks instead of mobile phones.
The raid of the warehouse of Apollo Electronic Accessories in Paco, Manila, reportedly an online seller of mobile phones, was conducted by the Manila Police District Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD-SMaRT) led by Col. Rosalino Ibay Jr. together with Manila Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) Director Levi Facundo.
The team discovered stones inside several boxes of cellphones instead of phones. Also discovered inside the parcels are rocks and a hammer. The hammer accordingly is being used to cut the rocks depending on the weight needed to complete a package.
The owner of the establishment will be facing charges for violation of Art 315 RPC (Estafa) in relation to RA 10175 (Cybercrime Act), RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines), and RO 8331 or operating without business permit.
