The Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital-Gingoog City is being planned to become a Regional Hospital. This was disclosed by Chief of Hospital Dr. Ben Johnson Villanueva. Meanwhile, Misamis Oriental 1st District Rep. Christian Unabia stated that the Departemnt of Health Region 10 has interposed non-objection to the plan.

When realized, the hospital can cater to patients coming from Level 1 hospitals from nearby areas such including Camiguin, Bukidnon, CARAGA Region. It can also provide more medical services including more Dialysis, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scan (MRI), other laboratory services and more bed capacity.

Once approved, it will now be managed by the DOH and not by the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental.
