A ranking leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) New Peoples Army and a consultant of the National Democratic Front (NDF) with a P5.35 million bounty on her head was arrested during a raid by the PNP Region Special Operations Unit and the Army’s 88th Infantry Battalion at around 2 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Purok 4, Brgy. Paitan, Quezon, Bukidnon.
Reports identified the arrested suspect as Adelaida “Loida” Magpatoc, 60 years old, who goes by the aliases “Adelaida,” “Debyang,” “Emyang,” “Kudaw,” “Gwen,” and “Robby,” and is also former secretary of the CPP’s Far-South Mindanao Regional Committee.
PNP Regional Police Director Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan said they earlier received information about Magpatoc’s whereabouts and acted on it and served arrest warrant issued by the court in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur, against Magpatoc for robbery with two counts of homicide and damage to property.
She was brought to the Valencia City Police Station for detention where they also learned she also had a standing arrest warrant for rebellion issued by the court in Butuan City.
In a separate statement, 4th ID commander Maj. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said Magpatoc was among communist leaders who were with New People’s Army (NPA) members whom the 88th IB encountered in Brgy. Laligan, Valencia, last September 10. She has been on the run after that clash, which resulted in the arrest of two NPA members, rescue of two underage combatants, and confiscation of six high-powered firearms, Brawner said.
