Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno has asked the Department of Health (DOH) to call the attention of Covid-19 testing labs in the city and require them to be strict in securing the addresses and contact numbers of their clients following reports that the City Health Office (CHO) cannot locate 163 persons who were Covid-positive because they gave wrong phone numbers and city addresses and thus making it difficult for contact tracing.
Mayor Moreno said that these Covid-19 positive persons cannot be found at the city addresses nor can be contacted through the numbers they gave to CHO. The development is concerning since these “loose cannons” could infect the people in their vicinity, he added.
Meanwhile, CHO’s Dr. Ted Yu asked Mayor Moreno to require both public and private testing facilities to issue real time/same day test results of their clients. Accordingly, lab results from testing facilities are usually given directly to clients and CHO only receive them after one to two days causing delay in contact tracing and profiling of our cases. Dr. Yu said the delayed test results and wrong phone numbers is one of the reasons in the discrepancy of COVID-19 case numbers between the city and DOH.
