DPWH Secretary Mark Villar tries out the newly completed Cagayan de Oro Convention Center which was finally inaugurated today or 21 years after it was started in 2000.
A few years ago, the project was featured in GMA TV’s Reporter’s Notebook as among the insfrastrucure projects which cost the government hundreds of millions yet remain unfinished…until today.
But the development is far from over. Only the main building with a seating capacity of 7,700 was completed. Overall, the open parking space around the main building will have 45 parking slots for cars, 12 slots for PWD, 12 for buses and 75 for motorcycles. The next phase covers a 3-level with roof deck parking building. A 2-storey building to house function rooms will be located right across it with both the Ground Floor and Lower Ground Floor each having a capacity of 1,270. It will also have a restaurant likewise with a seating capacity of 220 pax.
