Have you tried putting up a ‘community pantry’ inside your office yet? Land Bank Velez Branch in Cagayan de Oro City recently put up its own version solely intended for its escort guards, posting guards, drivers, messengers, janitors and contract of service workers from the bank’s attached units as a way of helping them cope up with the city placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
With each bank staff contributing as much as P500, they were able to set up a mini market with rice, vegetables, eggs, canned goods, noodles, toiletries and other goods where guards can simply get what they want.
The idea came after Branch Head and AVP Josephine B. Mercadal gave the guards boxes of face masks from her own pocket which she committed to do on a monthly basis. From that simple gesture came the idea of creating their own Community Pantry for them.
