Established in 1969, Cagayan de Oro Medical Center (COMC) is one of the premier institutions in Cagayan de Oro and Northern Mindanao in the healthcare industry. Aside from serving the community as a level II hospital, it has also been a training ground and a work place for highly competent nurses that are known for their efficient and quality care.
One of the newly registered nurses in the Philippines is Mr. Vernan Belacho who passed the July 2021 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination. He chose to work at Cagayan de Oro Medical Center. Before he passed the NLE, he was already hired and given a position at COMC applying his knowledge as a fresh Bachelors of Science in Nursing graduate.
“I have been looking for a job opportunity related to my college course since the postponement of the NLE 2020 a few months back. Upon seeing the description of one of their job postings, my skills and abilities seemed to be fit. It is something where I can foresee a long-term career. I appreciate the fact that they trust my capabilities and that they allow me to learn and grow.”
COMC is looking for more nurses to be a part of their team. Aside from the medical and surgical floors, this hospital has specialized areas too such as the Intenstive Care Unit, Operating Room, Hemodialysis Center, and Oncology Center to name a few.
Mr. Angelito P. Abao, BSN, RN, MN, the hospital’s chief nurse has emphasized that COMC is open to nurses who have no hospital experiences. “The country is in dire need of nurses. We are open to fresh board passers and nurses with no prior clinical experiences. Our challenge is to make them the best and well experienced nurses that they can be.”
