Whenever you hear about Camp Phillips, Del Monte’s pineapple plantation quickly comes to mind. The place was actually one of 17 numbered camps established by the Americans in the 1920s as housing for workers in their newly established pineapple plantation. It was formerly called Camp 12 and renamed after the pioneer Lawrence Phillips. It is now the home base for Del Monte’s pineapple plantation operations.
