Members of the Gingoog City Police Station hve started trying out their new issued sixteen (16) body cameras that were deployed by PNP Chief PGen Guillermo Eleazar to be used in their anti-crime operations.
According to a press release, 4 of the PNP-issued body cameras can be used for live streaming which can be monitored directly at the police station command center. Aside from the camera and built-in GPS, it can also pick up audio.
The body cameras will be used in their anti-drugs operations, service of search and arrest warrants and other security operations.
PLtCol. Ariel Philip Pontillas, Gingoog City Police Station Chief of Police, said the body-worn cameras can show transparency and disprove allegations against police operations. PNP Gingoog is currently awaiting body camera guidelines and protocols from the PNP Headquarters.
