El Salvador City will soon have a new Public Market and Bus Terminal Complex to be located right in the vicinity of the existing old public market beside the City Sports Complex. This was presented by City Mayor Edgar S. Lignes during his recent State of the City Address.
Shown below is the 1.5-hectare area to be developed with 7,500 sqm to be allocated for the market and terminal and the remaining 7,500 sqm to be leased out to a private mall or commercial developer.
A temporary public market will established while construction of the new complex is ongoing.
Here’s an aerial shot (from Google Earth) of the site showing several residential houses to be affected by the project.
Those affected families will be relocated to the city’s Resettlement Sites 1 and 2.
