The Bureau of Customs-Port of Cagayan de Oro (BOC-CDO) destroyed some Php 75 million worth of assorted smuggled cigarettes inside the facility of Terra Cycliq Corporation in Brgy. Mantibugao, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, yesterday, June 14, 2021.

In a press release, the BOC-CDO stated that the cigarettes consigned to Sixty Nine Enterprises arrived in three containers last January 11, 2021 at the Mindanao Container Terminal in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and were declared as kitchenware but upon examination, the shipment revealed 135,700 reams of assorted cigarettes.

The cigarettes were destroyed through crushing with the use of road roller and backhoe. The Bureau of Fire Protection in Manolo Fortich aided in the destruction by dispersing water into the cigarettes.

The destruction was headed by BOC Officials namely, Deputy Collector for Operations-Mindanao International Container Terminal, Atty. Noe Espenilla, Deputy Collector for Operations-Port of Cagayan de Oro, Elizabeth Delas Llagas, and CIIS Chief CDO Field Station Oliver Valiente.
