Cagayan de Oro City’s current quarantine status ends on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 and many are contemplating whether the city will remain under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), downgraded to general community quarantine (GCQ) or worse, upgraded to stricter enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
One of the major factors in quarantine classification is the Healthcare Utilization Rate (HCUR).
HCUR is the percentage of COVID-19 isolation beds, critical care beds and mechanical ventilators that are being used in a city or province at the time. Shown below are the quarantine modes and corresponding HCUR.
As of June 9, 2021, the city has a utilization rate of 80.49% for intensive care unit (ICU), 75.54% for isolation beds and 67.65% for mechanical ventilators. The city needs to lower the ICU utilization rate to less than 70%. See comparison below of other regions.
Here are the comparative figures for Critical Care Utilization Ratesa for Cagayan de Oro and Davao as well as Regions X and XI.
Yesterday, June 10, 2021, the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) announced they are now operating at maximum capacity for COVID-19 cases. Read our post below.
So the question … will it be MECQ, GCQ or ECQ?
