The Barangay Council of Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City has passed a resolution asking 1st Dist. Rep. Rolando “Klarex” Uy for a Lumbia campus of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).

Barangay Resolution No. 29 cites its estimated 40,000 population and 24 subdivisions as well as ongoing construction of the Regional Office of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), City Sports Complex, the Mental Health and Lumbia City Hospital, the upcoming new building of PNP Police Station 8 and the barangay as the center of te city’s 11 hinterland barangays as basis for the proposal.


The establishment of a new campus for USTP requires a law to be passed. USTP was established by virtue of Republic Act 10919 and has two major campuses in Cagayan de Oro and Claveria with satellite campuses in Balubal in Cagayan de Oro, Jasaan and Villanueva in Misamis Oriental, Oroquieta City and Panaon in Misamis Occidental with its upcoming main campus in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental.
