A Pelagic Thresher Shark was found dead along the coast of Barangay Cugman in Cagayan de Oro City at around 6:00am, today, May 16, 2021. The shark weighed 6.4 kg and measured 5ft and 5 inches. The City Agricultural Agricultural Productivity Operations Office Fisheries Division, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and Barangay Cugman officials are currently investigating the reasons as to why the shark washed up on the said coast.

According to the World Conservation Union, three thresher shark species have been listed as vulnerable to extinction since 2007.
