Edgardo Maluto, a veteran seafarer, a Licensed Chief Engineer of an international vessel for almost 20 years, would have arrived and be with his family in Cagayan de Oro City last Saturday, May 8, 2021 after processing his papers for another tour of duty abroad. However, he did not arrive on his scheduled flight.
Mary Lou Maluto Panerio, who is Edgar’s niece posted a lengthy narrative in Facebook on how they tracked Edgar’s whereabouts which led them to Funeraria Paz.
As stated by Panerio, Edgardo was killed in a police hot pursuit operation of a shooting incident in Quiapo, Manila at around 6:30pm Friday, May 7, 2021. She said responding policemen from the Barbosa Police Station shot her uncle after a civilian pointed to him as the suspect in the shooting of a barangay kagawad in an eatery earlier. What puzzled her is that police even claimed the suspect (her uncle) shot it out with the cops and a .357 revolver was recovered in his backpack. Panerio said her uncle doesn’t have a gun, much more know how to use one. He has no criminal record and has no reason to kill a barangay kagawad. Edgar was in Manila to process his papers. His family is now calling for justice!
