A group of motorela drivers in Cagayan de Oro City particularly those plying the Cogon-Consolacion Route (Orange) is calling on the city government to defer the implementation of the color-coded zoning routes for motorelas in the city.
In a radio interview, one of the drivers stated that their income have been greatly reduced with the implementation since they cannot transport passengers to Gaisano and Ayala Malls anymore. Only BLUE motorelas (Agora Route) are allowed to proceed to the said malls.
Also, passengers in the Divisoria area including City Hall will have to walk four city blocks towards Corrales Avenue to ride Blue motorelas in order to reach either Gaisano or Ayala. Meanwhile, those riding Orange motorelas will have to get off at Luna-Corrales Junction as the nearest drop off point and will need to walk some 200 to 300 meters to the mall.
Accordingly, they have already submitted a letter addressed to the City Mayor relative to their concern.
