Government troops composed of members of the 1st Special Forces Battalion (1SFBn) of the Philippine Army overran an NPA hideout located in a remote and uninhabited area of Sitio Kimutya, Brgy San Rafael, Talakag, Bukidnon at around 9:40am, yesterday, March 21, 2021 after a 4-hour gunbattle which resulted to two rebels dead and recovery of five high powered firearms, assorted ammunition, improvised explosive devices, commercial radios, personal belongings and other subversive documents.
In a report, government troops received information from concerned civilians in Talakag that NPA terrorist groups in Bukidnon are consolidating their armed elements in preparation for a large-scale attack against private construction companies, civilian targets, and military bases in time with the upcoming NPA Founding Anniversary on March 29, 2021.
Following the info, the 1SFBn under the 403rd Infantry Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army launched an offensive and encountered a combined 70 NPA elements of the CPP-NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee deep in the mountainous guerrilla base of the Sub-Regional Command 4 and Sub-Regional Command 5. After a relentless 4-hour gunbattle, the troops finally overran the rebel base.
Recovered are four M16 Rifles, an AK47 rifle, three improvised explosive devices, six combat packs, seven blasting caps, one rifle grenade, two bandoliers, eight M16 magazines, two commercial radios, assorted personal belongings, and subversive documents.
The army lost a hero in Corporal Rogelio Baldomero who died during the encounter and had personnel wounded.
