The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will be constructing soon a center island along Bulua Highway from the intersection of pottery landmark towards Iponan Bridge. Meanwhile, the center island along Kauswagan Highway from RER Junction towards the pottery landmark will be reduced to have uniform 2 meters width.
This was revealed during a pre-bid conference of the project last March 11, 2021 which is part of the Network Development – Off Carriageway Improvement – Primary Roads – Butuan City – Cagayan de Oro – Iligan Road Project costing about P29.4 million and scheduled for completion in 180 calendar days or 6 months.
The whole stretch covers 4.686 kilometers. The GREEN SECTION indicates the existing center island which will have a reduced uniform width of 2 meters. Some portions have a 4-meter width. Meanwhile, the RED SECTION is where the new center island will be constructed.
Some issues were discussed as to provision of pedestrian crossing and U-Turn slots. Accordingly, DPWH will be coordinating with the city’s Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) to finalize the plan relative to the said provisions. Below are perspectives of the center island.
The new island along Bulua Highway will have a width of 0.8 meters and a height of 0.6 meters.
