A resident of Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City recently found a Grass owl (Tyto longimenbris) within their premises and reported it to the CENRO Initao, Misamis Oriental for rescue and return to its habitat.

Photo below shows DENR-10 Forester Paulyn Mae S. Laranjo of the Enforcement Division inspecting the old wound at the right wing of the said owl.


Under Department Administrative Order 2019-09, “Updated National List of Threatened Philippine Fauna and their Categories”, the Grass owl is classified as other threatened species.

The owl is presently placed at the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center for safekeeping and proper disposal.
