Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” Emano and together with Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones led today’s official launching of the Mt. Balatukan Cluster Convergence Area Development Plan 2019-2022 which aims to protect and preserve the natural beauty of Mt. Balatukan Range benefiting eleven municipalities and one city in the Province. The event was held at the Misamis Oriental Tourism Complex and Botanical Garden in the boundary between Gingoog City and Claveria.
The plan calls for the collaboration, complementation and harmonization of resources and support from the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Interior and Local Government and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Mt. Balatukan is considered as the last frontier of Misamis Oriental.
Also present during the launch were DA-RFO-10 Regional Director Carlene C. Collado, DENR-10 Regional Director Arleigh Adorable, and DILG Provincial Director Maricia Naybe and Local Chief Executives and Representatives from different municipalities, Provincial Board Members, Misamis Oriental Department Heads, Philippine National Police, Armed forces of the Philippines and officials from National Government Agencies.
The Mt. Balatukan Range has an aggregate land area of 228,680.41 hectares and covers the municipalities of Balingasag, Balingoan, Binuangan, Claveria, Kinoguitan, Lagonglong, Magsaysay, Medina, Salay, Sugbongcogon, and Talisayan and Gingoog City.
