HUMANITY SAVING THE LIFE OF A REPTILE! Local villagers in Carmen Annex, Ozamiz City and combined elements of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) helped rescue a leatherback sea turtle which was weakened after swallowing fishnet. This occurred just tonight, February 16, 2021.

In his Facebook post, J-zellou Arapoc Baludo said a local fisherman spotted the turtle in the sea and tried to pull it toward the shore but was instead dragged by the turtle. So other fishermen helped in pulling the turtle to the shore where they found out the turtle has swallowed a fishing net and has already weakened.

So they contacted concerned government agencies who arrived at the scene in due time.
