The African Swine Fever (ASF) has finally affected hogs in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City. In a press conference today, Department of Agriculture Regional Director Carlene C. Collado confirmed the presence of ASF in Barangay Jampason in Initao, Pagawan in Manticao, and Mambuaya and San Simon, both in Cagayan de Oro City. Meanwhile, Bukidnon province where huge hog farms are located remains ASF-free.

Meanwhile, because of the threats of ASF, price increase is currently experienced in the region due to added risk factor on biosecurity, disinfectants and insurance premiums for the hog stocks.

Governor Yevgeny Emano on the other hand said even before blood samples of the hogs were taken, the province has already started culling affecting 31 heads.
