The Cagayan de Oro City Council is studying a proposal to give incentives to owners of properties being developed for parking buildings or spaces. This was bared by Committee Chair on Roads and Traffic Management Councilor Romeo Calizo as the city continues to find ways to solve the continuing lack of parking spaces in the city’s business district.

City Councilor Lordan Suan said that an ordinance giving incentives such as exemption to licenses and regulatory fees would entice property owners to invest in putting up parking areas.

In relation to the proposal, Councilor Calizo has requested the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) to prepare a list of properties and vacant lots in the business district which can possibly be converted into parking spaces.
