A young Brahminy Kite (Philippine Hawk Eagle) was caught by a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Balacanas, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental last February 3, 2021. It was formally turned over to DENR today, February 4, 2021.

According to information shared by Cyril Cambalon Jr. Joseph Jamero of the said locality caught the young bird of prey and immediately sought guidance from local barangay officials who advised him to bring the bird to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO).

MENRO personnel Mr. Charbe Carbonilla together with the Public Information Officer then brought the bird to the Villanueva Incident Command Center (VICC) where it was fed with chicken meat. The VICC then coordinated with CENRO Initao whose personnel personally received the bird for proper care. Browse photos and video below.
