A barangay chairman in Ozamiz City driving under the influence of liquor crashed the barangay’s brand new Toyota Hilux Rescue Vehicle yesterday, December 27, 2020 prompting City Mayor Ando Oaminal to issue a stern warning to all barangay captains stating that rescue vehicles are not toys for practice and will be used for official and emergency purposes only.

In a police report, the rescue vehicle which was turned over only by the City Government last December 22 was driven by Nestor Omayao Jala, the current Barangay Captain of Trigos in Ozamiz City. The vehicle hit an electric post and incurred damage to its front right side fender, front right side bumper, front right side head light/signal light, hood and front windshield. The driver failed the Breath Analyzer Test conducted by police investigators with an average of 1.80%.
