As the global economy is now leaning towards becoming more digital, a lawmaker at the House of Representatives is pushing for the establishment of “startup sandboxes” in schools and universities in selected cities in the country including Cagayan de Oro City simlar to the development of the famed Silicon Valley.
In a Manila Times article, Albay 2nd Dist. Rep. Joey Salceda, co-chairman of the House Economic Stimulus and Recovery ClusterWays and Means Committee said his proposal likens that of Silicon Valley which “began as a community of startups around Stanford University, which has among the world’s first computer programming degrees during that time.“
