Do you miss singing your favorite songs in karaoke/videoke bars with your friends? Well, you’ll just have to do it within the comforts of your home as karaoke/videoke bars remain prohibited from opening in Cagayan de Oro City even with the relaxed quarantine guidelines. This was stressed by acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery during a recent press briefing at City Hall.
Dr. Nery said there is a very high risk of respiratory droplet infection of COVID-19 during videoke/karaoke singing since singers open their mouths and hold microphones which may contain fomites or infectious substances such as the coronavirus. She also added that it’s also difficult to sing with either or both face mask and face shield increasing the risk of infection.

Instead, she suggested to make use of computers or TV sets equipped for videoke/karaoke singing but only within the same household if they are entertained by singing during Christmas.
