After more than 6 years, motorists plying along the Cagayan de Oro Coastal Road (Kauswagan-Igpit Section) will finally see brighter nights ahead with the ongoing installation of streetlights.
As shown below, lighting fixtures are now observed beside the eastbound lane from Kauswagan-Bayabas Junction towards Buara area near the drainage outlet.

Prior to the streetlights, motorists at night rely on lights from establishments along the highway and approaching vehicles. Some lights are also observed placed on existing electric poles in the area.

When the road was opened sometime in May of 2014, many motorists had to endure the absence of streetlights along the way at night as well as the unfamiliarity of the route.

There were also few establishments along the highway at that time.

Accidents also occurred at night due to trucks that parked along the highway which some motorists do not see due to lack of illumination.

The increased vehicular traffic in the area has also resulted to development of roadside properties.

Poles are ready but still lack the lighting fixture.

But hopefully, the streetlights will be lighted soon.

Can they complete it in time for Christmas?

Keep posted.
