Teofilo Vale Balindres, a World War II veteran and a retired radio man of the Armed Forces of the Philippines was recently feted by the City Government of Ozamiz and recognized as the ONLY CENTENARIAN Ozamiznon. Balindres, from Baybay Triunfo in Ozamiz City, who celebrated his 100th birthday last February 20, 2020, received an incentive of Php100,000 from the city government.

Photos below show members of the City Council led by Vice Mayor Simplicia “Bebie” Neri giving the Php100,000 cheque to Lolo Teofilo last November 17. The City Council also gave him a copy of the resolution commending and heartily congratulating him for reaching 100 years old, the first in the city.

Lolo Teofilo became a radio man of the AFP in 1942 at age 22 until his retirement in 1972 at age 55. He has also served as a church lay minister until 2004.
