Some Php2.351 billion out of the total Php7.268 billion or roughly 32 percent of the Cagayan de Oro Urban Drainage Master Plan Project has been released since 2015. This was bared by the Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 10 (DPWH-10) as the occurrence of urban flooding in the city becomes more frequent.

In terms of its physical status, the drainage masterplan which covers the catchment areas of Sapang, Carmen, Bitan-ag and Kolambog Creeks, implementation has so far completed 10.6 kilometers with 7 kilometers still ongoing for a total of 17.6 kilometers or just less than half of the target 38.32 kilometers total project length.
